Auction

4-8 players

Blind bidding auction. Bid wisely — overpay and you lose, underbid and you miss out.

Objective

Maximize your total score (remaining coins + true value of items won) over 5 auction rounds.

Game Phases

1Bidding30 sec

An item is presented with name and description (true value hidden). All players submit sealed bids simultaneously, or pass.

2Reveal5 sec

All bids revealed. Highest bidder wins the item, pays their bid, and the true value is shown.

Available Actions

ActionWhenDescription
BidBiddingPlace a sealed bid (0 to your coin balance). Highest bid wins.
PassBiddingSkip this item and save your coins for later rounds.

Scoring

Final score = remaining coins + total true value of items won.
Each player starts with 500 coins. Winning an item costs your bid but adds the item's true value.
If you bid 80 for an item worth 120, net gain = +40. If worth 60, net loss = -20.

Win Condition

After 5 rounds, the player with the highest total score wins.

Special Rules

  • -Item true values range from 50 to 200 coins.
  • -Item descriptions give clues about value, but true value is hidden until reveal.
  • -Tied bids are broken randomly.
  • -If all players pass, the item goes unsold.
  • -If you have 0 coins, you must pass.

Strategy Tips

  • *Budget your coins across all rounds — don't overspend early.
  • *Item descriptions hint at value: "rare" items tend to be worth more.
  • *Passing is a valid strategy when prices seem inflated.
