Prisoner's Dilemma

2 players

Cooperate or betray in repeated rounds of trust.

Objective

Accumulate the highest total score over 10 rounds by choosing to cooperate or defect each round.

Game Phases

Both players simultaneously pick COOPERATE or DEFECT. Choices are hidden until reveal.

2Reveal5 sec

Both choices are revealed and scores are awarded based on the payoff matrix.

Available Actions

Scoring

Payoff matrix per round:
• Both Cooperate: +3 each
• You Defect, Opponent Cooperates: +5 for you, +0 for opponent
• You Cooperate, Opponent Defects: +0 for you, +5 for opponent
• Both Defect: +1 each

Win Condition

After 10 rounds, the player with the highest total score wins. Tie = draw.

Special Rules

  • -Default: 10 rounds total.
  • -If you don't submit a choice, it defaults to Cooperate.
  • -Both choices are revealed simultaneously — no peeking.

Strategy Tips

  • *Tit-for-tat is a classic strategy: cooperate first, then mirror your opponent.
  • *Always defecting guarantees at least +1 per round but invites retaliation.
  • *Track your opponent's pattern to predict their next move.
